Program 2014

A new year brings a new Open Forum programme. Returning for its 15th incarnation since its inception as a student led initiative in 1999. This year will see Open Forum seeking new modes of presentation through its existing format. A number of thematic strands will run throughout the year that interconnect various talks and events, including the nature of working collaboratively, how can we present new forms of dialogue, and various approaches to curating styles.

Open Forum 2014 launched with an event by the collective D.O.R who in 2006 coined the term Neo-relational in an attempt to define the work of its group. Other speakers in February and March included Bergen based artist Kurt Johannessen who has presented work at La Muga Caula, 8th international Performance festival, 2012, and a solo show at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo 2007; artist duo Elmgreen and Dragset who curated the Nordic pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009 had a 2014 exhibition at the Astrup Fearnley Museum; and UK based curator Tom Morton, curator of the British Art Show 7, 2011 and contributor to Frieze magazine.
