Jan Jörnmark received his Ph D in Economic History in 1993. He has written extensively on different aspects of economic change and globalization.
However, his most well known work has been his popular work.
In 2005 Jörnmark launched a web site about the effects of innovation and creative destruction, which he argues is the most important aspect of the capitalist system. Using digital photos depicted different abandoned places, the site became a Swedish success story. It resulted in several best selling books, most recently Avgrunden (The Abyss).
