Goro Tronsmo (b. 1975) is a Norwegian artist and stage director. She makes context-specific works that question and relate to the curatorial, architectural and institutional contexts of the venues as well as the institutional framework of performance art.
In the latest production, she filmed her company of actors and herself continuously during the entire rehearsal period. The result was a kind of reality project, for which the production became a tool in structural critique and analysis.
Capturing the exercise of laziness during the production period and stubbornness against the creation of a fixed end-product, the 200 h film material questions the identity of its art objects, works, action and non-action, characters, curatorial strategies, venue, performative and non-performative situations and spectatorial situations and the identity of the film within the art market economy.
The project has been exhibitied in various forms: documentary film, video art, performance, online streaming, installation, and panel discussion. Evidently, structural premises for art production and structural development of works are amongst the artist’s main concerns. Tronsmo works in Oslo, Stockholm and Berlin.
